collection to gallery
This private collection carries the mark of a personal eye, built through a passion for street art and contemporary art. Choices were made one at a time, guided by an interest in the artists, their practice and their world.
This approach has opened the collection to a wide range of movements and sensibilities. It now brings together more than 1,000 works, from historic stencil art to the contemporary practices that carry its history forward.
After these decades spent collecting, the desire came to put part of the works into circulation and offer them to new collectors.
Lili Art Galerie was born of that desire, with a deliberately simple approach: to highlight certain pieces from this private collection and give them a new place with those who share this interest in urban and contemporary art.
a moving culture
Street art has spread well beyond the walls it first appeared on. From New York graffiti to Parisian stencil art, then to more contemporary urban art practices, its forms and territories have kept evolving.
This history runs naturally through the collection, with artists from different generations and scenes. Pioneers such as Blek le Rat, Miss.Tic and Futura 2000 sit alongside artists who developed other approaches to image, painting and urban intervention.
What connects these works is a shared interest in artists who each contributed, in their own way, to blurring the lines between urban culture and contemporary art.
Some acquisitions reflect a particular period, movement or technique. Others came simply from an encounter with a work. Together, they form an outlook built up over the years, attentive to each artist’s individuality.
