Maxime Blachère, known as BLACH, was born in 1980 in Savoie and later settled near Lyon. A former high-level athlete and physical education teacher, he committed himself fully to art after early years in graffiti and the Lyon punk scene, blending comic books, pop culture and references to art history.

He notably painted the largest fresco ever made for the passage of the Tour de France cycling race in 2019.
